LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP'S REVENGE ON AGGRIEVED TAXPAYERS

LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP HAD A REVALUATION DONE ON OF THE PROPERTIES. THERE IS A GREAT INCENTIVE FOR THE TOWN OFFICIALS TO HAVE THE PROPERTIES OVERASSESSED. WHEN THE VALUES ARE INFLATED YOU ARE LEFT WITH A LOWER TAX RATE, BUT YOU ARE PAYING MORE TAX DOLLARS OUT OF YOUR POCKET.

A LOWER TAX RATE BLINDFOLDS THE TAXPAYERS TO THINK THAT THEY WILL PAY LOWER TAXES WHEN THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE.

AN INFLATED PROPERTY VALUE TAX BASE GIVES THE MUNICIPALITY A GREATER BORROWING POWER INCLUDING BOND ISSUES. WITH BOND ISSUES THEY CAN OVER SPEND OVER AND ABOVE THE STATE MANDATED CAP RATE.

THE TAX PAYER ALSO ENDS UP PAYING AN UNJUSTIFIED HIGHER COUNTY TAX BURDEN.

STARTING WITH A LOWER TAX RATE MAKES IT THAT MUCH EASIER TO SPEND MORE AND RAISE TAXES WITH LITTLE ANTICIPATED BACK LASH.

THERE WERE FILED OVER 2000 (TWO THOUSAND) APPEALS. THEREFORE LAKEWOOD'S ANTICIPATED HIGHWAY ROBBERY IS IN JEPORADY.

THE SOLUTION BY THE TOWNSHIP OFFICIALS IS TO HARASS (via inspection Department & other Township offices) ALL OF THOSE WHO FILED APPEALS.

THEY ARE ON WAR FOOTING, EVEN GOING SO FAR AS ADVISING THE REVALUATION FIRM NOT TO SIT WITH ANY AGGRIEVED PROPERTY OWNER TO SEE IF A FAIR RESOLUTION IS POSSIBLE (which is the accepted practice at every revalution across the State).
